Holiday Racing

30 Dec

A few Runnababez took the holidays to celebrate and race off some of the cookies!  Lisa ran the Snowball series 3 mile a week ago, and was first female.  The course was in Tower Grove that week and covered in snow and ice!

This past weekend Lisa ran the 2 mile in the Frostbite series, once again taking home the win passing a few competitors after a mile to run a time of 12:12.

Jackie toed the line in the long course Frostbite race of 10 miles.  She enjoyed the company of an Olympian, Colleen Quigley who was in town who also used as her long run tempo.  Jackie and Colleen finished in 1:05 together, and Amy Marxkors finished in 1:06.

Lisa Places 2nd in Indoor Mile

9 Dec

Lisa busted some rust this past weekend, toeing the line at an early pre-season indoor track meet.   She raced the mile at the Saluki Fast Start, in Carbondale starting off in the lead for over half of the race against D1 college runners.  Half way thru she felt a strain in her calf muscle, that prevented kicking to next gear and finished in second at 5:30, to a runner from SLU.

A solid time to start the track season getting underway!

Runnababez Turkey Trotted

2 Dec

Congrats to several Runnababez who ran a few different Turkey Trots before the gobbled Turkey on Thanksgiving!  Starting off in St. Charles race was Jackie Pirtle-Hall who won the race in 16:32!  Two other Runnababez finished in the top 20, Jessica File at 7th female overall in 18:15, and new Runnababe Brooke Schulte who placed 15th female overall at 19:26.  The race ran a bit short, but doesn’t matter, great workout, great friends and great placing out of thousands!

Lisa Cary was first female overall at the Kirkwood-Webster race, in 18:23. This race also featured thousands of Turkey trotters!
