Back on Track

30 Jan

Lisa Cary raced her first track meet of 2017, opening up with a 3k at Principia relays this past weekend. She ended up 8th overall, at a time of 10:45 which is off her PR for the distance, but continues to pick up speed week by week.

Lisa Wins in First Trail Half-Marathon!

21 Jan

Lisa Cary continues her comeback building back strength from an illness and anemia that knocked her down for several months earlier this fall, by placing as first female overall and 7th overall including men in her first trail race, the Wildwood Trail Half Marathon.  The race was run in her favorite training mecca, known as the Al Foster Trail.  The race course winded through the woods and up the long gradual hill known as Zombie road.

Lisa ran a huge negative split race, using this as a progressive long run workout getting faster as the miles went along.  She found a new friend in the 2nd place female competitor and the two chatted away for the whole first half of the race.  After half way she found herself progressing  and taking the lead, running in for the win in 1:34.

Fun. Fast. Fabulous!
