A few Runnababez took to the Turkey Trots around St. Louis on Thanksgiving.  Over at the Turkey Trot STL in St. Charles, Jackie used the 5k race as a final tune up before an upcoming marathon.  Jackie ran away as the turkey champion with a time of 17:43.  Amanda Albrecht-Houston finished as 3rd woman overall in 19:05.

Meanwhile, Carine Rossouw was racing over at the Chesterfield Turkey Trot.  Carine finished 2nd overall with a time of 20:48 on the twisty Chesterfield course!

Congrats all fellow gobblers & enjoy the holiday season with some runs with friends & family!

Marathon Mania!

18 Nov

This past weekend the Runnababez Jessica File & Amy Marxkors competed in two different marathons across the US.  Jessica File got the party started with running one of her favorite races the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon, in Oglethorpe,GA.  The race honors one of Civil War’s most important battles.  Jessica started out the race with a few technical difficulties, an avid Garmin user she was thrown off her game somewhat when she realized it was, “dead.”  Her support crew (sister) was able to get her a normal watch to track her splits around mile 5.  Jessica finished as top 3 women overall, with a 3rd place finish in 3:17.  She dropped 8 minutes from her previous course best of 3:25, that she ran there last year.

Meanwhile, up in Brooklyn, NY Amy Marxkors was lining up for the Brooklyn Marathon, which was a multiple loop course that she said is now her favorite new marathon.  Amy finished in 3:17 the same time as Jessica ran down in GA! Amy was  4th place woman overall.  She enjoyed this race as a more low-key, fun event and was pleasantly exhausted at the finish!

Look for a few more racing adventures from some Runnababez to round off a great 2015!

Reppin’ at Track Club

3 Nov

The Runnababez toed the line at the St Louis Track Club Half Marathon and 5k this past weekend.  Despite being in heavy training for some upcoming goal races, the ladies just couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to represent St Louis in our hometown race.  Jackie showed she’s ready to crush a marathon by powering through to an outstanding 1:19 performance.  Letting the out of towners blow out from the gun, Jackie showed her marathon strength as she closed the gap significantly over the last few miles.  No taper, no problem, eh?  Jackie ended up as the top placing American in the international field.

Jackie’s badger buddy, Lisa used the 5k to sharpen up on some of her racing skills.  Lisa tackled the hilly course and not only walked away with the title, but also the course record in 18:24.  Closing out her recordrun with a 5:30 last mile showed Lisa’s prepped and ready for track season to get underway.

With some big races on the horizon, watch the Runnababez to represent the area in some big races around the nation.  It’s time to take the Fun. Fast. Fabulous tour on the road.
