Tuning into Track

4 Apr

Last weekend saw the Runnababez take to the track to do some spring tune ups.  Last Friday night, under the lights in 40 degree weather saw Lisa Cary & Jessica File got ready to toe the line in the Wash U Invite 10k.  Lisa was asking her Runnababez team mates if anyone was interested in running the race with her, just as a no pressure race and to use it as a tempo.  Jessica File, stepped up to bat after not having competed in a track meet in over 15 years!  She was both nervous and excited!  As the race got going Lisa found herself warming into the race, and running right at PR pace. Jessica was also warming up into the race, and finding her competitive spirits once again!  During the last couple of miles, Lisa was hoping to pick up the pace but  found her stomach wasn’t cooperating with a pre-race meal, managing to hold onto her pace she finished in 36:48, a solid track tune up effort before her marathon coming up in a month.  Jessica File picking up the pace on the last few laps and racing in some fellow competitors, finished right at 41 minutes.  Not bad for a first track meet in over a decade! The race finish and atmosphere left both wanting more.  Jessica said she actually enjoyed it, and would do a track race again!

Stay tuned as the Runnababez get ready to round into fine form in the coming months!

Fun. Fast. Fabulous!
