Jackie, She’s BAACKK!!

19 Jan

Jackie Pirtle-Hall toed the line at the Houston Marathon yesterday, starting her 2015 off on the right foot!  Jackie is back, after a 3 year hiatus from racing a marathon. Jackie had a 2nd child (Gwyn) in 2013 & battled through a nagging foot injury at the end of 2014.   Jackie, while injured this past year in October thought she needed something positive to think about and focus towards, she put the Houston Marathon on her calendar for 2015.  Jackie signed up for the race hoping to get back out there and compete in the long distance she loved, and see how she felt.  Jackie felt great, once the race got going, running in Houston with her Sister, Mom, and relatives in town, she felt right at home.  Houston was also home to the 2012 Olympic trials race, where she competed in the marathon setting her then PR, on the course in 2012.  Jackie yesterday, ran her way to a 2:48.57 time, and placed 17th female overall, & 10th American woman! Jackie previously pondering on if she could re-commit to the marathon training needed to qualify again in 2016, is now just minutes away from qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Trials time needed of 2:42.59. Pondering no more, Jackie is back and ready to go for it!   The Runnababez have several runners in pursuit of the Olympic Trials times, in marathon, track, and field events, and are excited to be sinking their teeth into the training together!  It looks to be shaping up to be a great & exciting 2015 year for the Runnababez!

Fun. Fast. Fabulous.

Runnababez Welcome Jessica File!

11 Jan

Runnababez welcome, Jessica File to the team!

Jessica File (formerly Grider) is coming to the Runnababez team after a recent 3rd place showing at the Chickamauga Battlefield- Georgia Marathon in 2014. Jessica ran a great marathon race, all the while just getting back into training. Jessica was a former all state high-school runner while at Ft. Zumwalt South. She went on to become a walk-on collegiate runner for Mizzou, where she ran for a few seasons before getting injured. Over the years, she missed having training partners to run with, and looks forward to training with her new Runnababez team-mates. Jessica has a natural running ability, and strong work ethic, that will definitely shine through with continued training in the upcoming year. Runnababez believe Jessica has some PRs in store for 2015!

Runnababez Amanda Albrecht made her 2015 Indoor Track & Field debut today at the SEMO All- Comers, indoor track meet.   Amanda competed in the high-jump , jumping 5’6 to win the event.  She also competed in the 800, and saw this meet as a great way to bust the rust off, and get into the swing of things for 2015!
