Wild Racing Weekend!!

11 Jun

The Runnababez were out and about this past weekend! Cheryl Held placed 1st overall at a night 5k in Florida, her home base for the summer, in the, “Billy Bowlegs 5k.”

Lisa Cary & Runnababez Rookie Juli Stults traveled to Nashville for the Music City Distance Carnival track meet. Lisa & Juli’s trip was filled with adventure to say the least..They were supposed to run on Saturday night in Nashville, but weather and tornadoes found the meet to be at first cancelled or TBD. They went and grabbed dinner waiting to hear if the meet would start up later in the night, cancelled or run off the following day. Hours later they found out the meet to be postponed to run the events on Sunday..This was Juli’s first post-collegiate track meet, 4 years later… And first race as a newly minted Runnababe! She finally got the chance to bust the rust off her spikes last Sunday, and put a post collegiate time on the boards, with a sub 19 minute 5k performance and in the middle of the humid day!

Lisa closed out her steeple season in a US caliber field…Her race went out in a USA Steeple record pace, as she heard while running…”Currently running at the fastest time in the USA this year!…” and she was trying to just hang on and stay in it as long as possible…That ended up being quite rough the last laps and she finished in on a 10:50 performance.

Meanwhile, back in the LOU, fellow Runnababe Amanda Albrecht ran a PR in the 800 of 2:21 at the Ozark Association meet at SLU! She followed that up with the overall men and women win at the high jump of a mark at around 5’4.

The Runnababez had a great weekend, and are looking forward to this upcoming weekend’s 5k at the GO ALL AMERICAN, where they hope to be FUN.FAST. & FABULOUS!
